Update on fatal shooting in Graiseley and reassurance from local officers |
||
|
We'd like to update you on the work we're doing following the fatal shooting of a man in the Graiseley area early today.
Our investigations are moving at pace with neighbourhood officers supporting investigators and offering reassurance to local residents.
Investigations are continuing this evening with on-going house-to-house enquiries and CCTV being recovered and reviewed as we work to establish the exact circumstances.
A police cordon remains in place in the area of Lilleshall Crescent following the shooting at just after midnight, with forensic examinations being carried out.
Chief Inspector Richard Evans of Wolverhampton Police, said: "We do understand just how upsetting an incident like this is, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the 30-year-old victim at this awful time.
"Investigations are continuing and our neighbourhood officers are out there as well to assist any residents who may be impacted by the on-going police activity.
"There will be extra patrols continuing over the coming days and our local teams are also liaising closely with partner agencies, and community and faith groups across the city."
Under Operation Target, the Force's Major Crime Unit works 24/7 alongside intelligence and local policing colleagues to identify, disrupt and arrest those involved in gun violence, with ongoing operations to monitor and suppress criminal activity.
If you have any information that can help, call 101 quoting log 50 of 25 October. Or to remain anonymous speak to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
